Today's movies mark the invasion of Norway, the birthday of Charles Steinmetz, and a circus anniversary.

The Moon Is Down (1943) is about
the aftermath of the Nazis' invasion of
Norway which began April 9, 1940.  It is based
on a John Steinbeck novel- Steinbeck was born
February 27, 1902.

The Lonely Wizard Steinmetz (1957)
is an episode of the Schlitz Playhouse of
Stars which began in 1951.  This episode
was in season 7, episode 10.  Steinmetz was
born April 9, 1865.  The episode won an Emmy
for Writing.  Steinmetz was a genius
mathematician and electrical engineer.  He
was a professor at Union College in
Schenectady.

Billy Rose's Jumbo (1962) is about the circus
and Jumbo the Elephant, which arrived in America
April 9, 1882.  This movie, aka Jumbo, combines
drama, comedy and music.
