Today's movies mark the beginning of World War II, back to school, and Star Trek.

Esther (1939) is about a German-American
community in Minnesota on the eve of World
War II, which began September 1, 1939, when
Germany invaded Poland.  This short documentary
of 14 minutes is on the National Film Registry.

Go Tigers! (2001) is a chronicle of
a season of a high school football team
in Ohio.  It is a sports documentary.
September is traditionally back to school
month and the beginning of high school
football.

Star Trek:  Discovery (2017- ) is a
TV series that is set ten years before
the original Star Trek series.  There have been
34 episodes.  Star Trek Day is
September 8, which was the first episode of the
original series.
