Rodan (1956) is one of a series of
successful monster films produced in
Japan. This one features a colossal
pterodactyl. The first monster, Godzilla,
appeared nationwide in Japan in a movie
released November 3, 1954. Today is
also Japan Culture Day.

The Leopard (1963) is a critically acclaimed
movie about an aristocrat in 1860s Sicily coming
to terms with Ital's upheavals which would
eventually lead to unification of the country.
Unification was complete November 3, 1918,
with the Armistice of Villa Giusti, a national day
in Italy.

Italian artist, Cellini, born November
