Movies for the Day, Thursday, June 6, 2019

Today's movies mark the birthday of Alexander Pushkin, a Swedish holiday, and D-Day.

Which of today's movies would you watch?

The Queen of Spades (1949) is an unusual
macabre fantasy based on a story by Alexander
Pushkin, born June 6, 1799, about an elderly
countess's obsession with winning at cards.  Set in
1806.

The Great Adventure (1953) is a
semi-documentary look at four seasons
on a farm in Sweden- especially a boy
and various farm and wild animals.
Sweden's national holiday is June 6.
A very good movie.

The Americanization of Emily (1964) is
a romantic comedy set against the Normandy
