Movies for the Day, Monday, November 4, 2019

Today's movies mark the birthday of Martin Balsam, the seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, and the birthday of Art Carney.

Which of today's movies would you watch?

A Thousand Clowns (1965) is about a society
dropout who needs to go back in.  This
very good movie won an Oscar for Best
Supporting Actor, to Martin Balsam, born
November 4, 1919.  It was a Broadway play
first.  Comedy, drama, and romance.

Nada (1974) is about hapless leftist
terrorists who kidnap an American
ambassador but then have to deal with a
right wing cop.  This is a very good movie
combining a political thriller and action
with some comedy.  The seizure of
the United States embassy in Tehran took
place November 4, 1979.

The Late Show (1977) is about a murder
investigation by a semi-retired private
investigator.  This very good movie stars
Art Carney, born November 4, 1918, and Lily
Tomlin.  It was later a TV series, Eye to Eye.
