Today's movies mark the birthdays of James Jones and Sally Field and Adoption Month.

about a troubled vet returning to his small
midwestern town in the 1940s.  The movie
features many stars, including Frank Sinatra,
born December 12, 1915.  It is based on the novel
by James Jones, born November 6, 1921.  November
is also Veterans Day month.

a farm widow with two young children
in a Depression era Texas town.  This is an
inspiring movie.  This movie won
Oscars for Best Actress, to Sally Field,
born November 6, 1946, and Writing.

drama and comedy, about a scheme to rent
orphanage kids out.  November is National
Adoption Month.
