Today's movies mark the birthdays of Liza Minnelli, James Taylor, and Jack Kerouac.
Which of today's movies would you watch?
I Am a Camera (1955) is a very good
movie about a writer in pre-war Berlin.
It is based on memoirs by Christopher Isherwood
and followed a play by the same name. It
preceded the musical Cabaret and the film
Cabaret, which starred Liza Minnelli, born
March 12, 1946, and Joel Grey, born April 11,
1932.

Two-Lane Blacktop (1971) is a
very good movie about a race across
the southwest between a '55 Chevy and
a 1970 GTO. This cult classic is on the National
Film Registry. It stars James Taylor, born
March 12, 1948. It is a source of inspiration for
the Cannonball Baker Sea-To-Shining-Sea
Memorial Trophy Dash, first begun May 3,
1971. A minimalist classic.

The Source (1999) is a documentary
about the Beats and the Beat Generation,
especially Jack Kerouac, born March 12, 1922,
Allen Ginsburg (born June 3, 1926) and
William Burroughs. It traces the movement
from the 1944 meeting of Kerouac and Ginsburg
through 1977.
