Today's movies mark the birthdays of Tennessee Williams and Alan Arkin.

The Rose Tattoo (1955) is about a romance
between a widow and a truck driver in an
Italian American neighborhood in Louisiana.
This very good movie is based on a play by Tennessee
Williams, born March 26, 1911.  It won Oscars for Best
Actress, to Anna Magnani, Cinematography, and Art/Set
Direction.

Summer and Smoke (1961) is a very
good movie about a romance between
a spinster and a young doctor- a story of
unrequited love.  It is set in a 1916 small
Mississippi town.  It is based on a play by
Tennessee Williams, born March 26, 1911.

Little Miss Sunshine (2006) is about
a family that takes a cross country trip in a VW bus
determined to enter their young daughter into a
beauty pageant.  This dramatic comedy won Oscars
for Best Supporting Actor, to Alan Arkin, born
March 26, 1934, and Writing.
