Movies for the Day, Saturday, September 9, 2017

Today, September 9, is the birthday of author Leo Tolstoy, the anniversary of California's entry into the Union, and the birthday of actor Cliff Robertson.  Here are three movies to celebrate these dates.

from the novel by the great Russian author,
Leo Tolstoy, who was born September 9,

California Conquest (1952) is a story
about a Russian attempt to confiscate
California territory.  California
was admitted to the Union on September
9, 1850.

Charly (1968) is the story of an
intellectually disabled person who becomes incredibly smart
in an experimental procedure.  The movie is based
on Flowers for Algernon by
Daniel Keyes.  Cliff Robertson, born September
9, 1925, won an Oscar for Best Actor.
