the first woman to work as a doctor in
a New York City hospital.  It is based on
the memoirs of Emily Dunning, born
September 27, 1876.

Murder by Decree (1979) is about Sherlock
Holmes investigating the Jack the Ripper
murders.  This date, September 27, is the
anniversary of a famous alleged Jack the Ripper
letter sent to the English Central News Agency in 1888-
the date the Dear Boss letter was postmarked and
received.
