TV series about a rural Virginia family
during the era of the Great Depression and
WW II. It stars Richard Thomas, born June
13, 1951. It won many Emmys, including for
Best Actor, to Thomas (1973), Best Actress, to Michael Learned (1973, 1974, 1976), Supporting Actress, to
Ellen Corby (1973, 1975, 1976), Writing (1973, 1974), Outstanding
Drama Series (1973), and Supporting Actor, to Will
Geer (1975). It is based on a book by Earl Hammer Jr.,
Spencer's Mountain and a 1963 movie of the same name.
The 1971 pilot was The Homecoming- A Christmas Story.
There were over 200 episodes.

Ghosts of Mississippi (1996) is about
the re-opening in the 1990s of the case
of the murder of African-American
Medgar Evers in the mid 1960s. The
assassination occurred June 13, 1963.
