teen angst movie from the 1950s. This excellent
movie features youthful alienation and juvenile
delinquency and stars legendary James Dean,
born February 8, 1931. It is on the National Film
Registry. It was nominated for several Oscars,
including Best Supporting Actor (Sal Mineo) and
Best Supporting Actress (Natalie Wood).
Rebel Without a Cause
Around the World in Eighty Days (1956) is about
a Victorian era gentleman who travels around the world
in eighty days on a wager, using various modes of transportation
including hot air balloon. It is based on the classic novel
by Jules Verne, born February 8, 1828. This movie won
Oscars for Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography,
Film Editing and Scoring. There was a 1989 miniseries
Around the World in 80 Days.
