Great Expectations (1946) follows Pip from
orphan to gentleman. This excellent movie is based
on the classic novel by Charles Dickens, born February
7, 1912. It won Oscars for Cinematography and Art/Set
Decoration. Other movie adaptations of the novel
include Great Expectations (1934 and 1974 [TV] and
1998).
Great Expectations
Dodsworth (1936) is about a retired
industrialist who retires and travels to Europe
with his wife and they discover competing
wants and needs. This excellent movie is based
on the classic novel by Sinclair Lewis, born February
7, 1885. It is on the National Film Registry and won
an Oscar for Interior Decoration. The movie was
preceded by a Broadway play and was followed by
a TV version as an episode of Producers' Showcase which
won an Emmy in 1957 for Best Single Performance by
an Actress, to Claire Trevor.

Little House on the Prairie (1974 - 1983) is about
a family's adventures when they move west to establish
a home on the prairie in 19th century America. This
heart-warming and beloved TV series is based on the
equally beloved books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, who was
born February 7, 1867. The series, having 205 episodes,
won Emmys for Cinematography and Music Composition.
It won Peoples Choice Awards in 1978 and 1979 as Favorite
Television Dramatic Program.
