Today's movies mark a Tom & Jerry anniversary, the birthday of Boris Pasternak, and the Grammy Wards.

The Cat Concerto (1947) is a Tom & Jerry
cartoon in which mayhem ensues during a piano
concert by Tom.  This film won an Oscar for Short
Films- Cartoons.  Tom & Jerry made their first
appearance in Puss Gets the Boot, released February
10, 1940.

Doctor Zhivago (1965) is a love story
set against the backdrop of World War
I and the Russian Revolution.  It is based
on the novel by Boris Pasternak, born February
10, 1890.  This passionate movie won Oscars for
Writing, Cinematography, Art Direction/Set Decoration,
Costume Design, and Score.

This Is Spinal Tap (1984) is a bit of a
parody of a rock documentary, though real
enough it is of the metal band.  This movie
is on the National Film Registry.  Today
is Grammy Awards day, a good date to watch
such a movie.
