Today's movies feature romance, one of the greatest artists of all time, and the Mexican-American war.


The Barretts of Wimpole Street (1934) tells the story of
the romance between two great literary figures of 19th
century England, Elizabeth Barrett (Browning), born
this day, March 6, in 1806, and Robert Browning, born
May 7, 1812.

The Titan- Story of Michelangelo (1950) is a biography of
the great Renaissance Italian artist, born March 6, 1475.
It won an Oscar for Documentary Feature.

Today, March 6, is the anniversary of the fall of the
Alamo in the Mexican-American War in 1836.  The
Man From the Alamo (1953) is based on that heroic
stand.  Hugh O'Brien was awarded a Golden Globe
as New Star of the Year for his role in the movie
western.
