Robinson Crusoe (1954) is about a man
shipwrecked on a "deserted" island. It is based
on the classic novel by Daniel Defoe, which in turn
was based on the February 1, 1709, rescue of
Alexander Selkirk, a Scottish sailor marooned in
September 1704, and his adventures. The novel was
published April 25, 1719. February 1 is often
considered Robinson Crusoe Day. This very good movie
is sometimes known as Adventures of Robinson
Crusoe (1952).
