Movies for the Day, Friday, February 14, 2020

Today's movies mark the publication of The Maltese Falcon, Valentines Day, and the release of Silence of the Lambs.

Which of today's movies would you watch?

The Maltese Falcon (1941) is a murder mystery
about gumshow Sam Spade.  It is based on
Dashiel Hammet's The Maltese Falcon, published
February 14, 1930.  Hammet was born May 27, 1894.
This thrilling mystery drama is on the National Film Registry and
features an American Film Institute Quote, "The stuff that dreams
are made of."  An excellent movie.  See also The Maltese
Falcon (1931).

Love Affair (1939) is a love story that
moves from shipboard to New York
City (including the Empire State
Building).  It is a very good movie involving romance
and comedy and a bit of a weepie.  See also
Love Affair (1994).  February 14 is Valentines Day.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) is a
violent horror movie involving cannibalism.
It also has elements of suspense and black comedy.
