Today's movies mark the birthdays of Ronald Colman and Gypsie Rose Lee and a Beatles anniversary.
Which of today's movies would you watch?
The Prisoner of Zenda (1937) is an excellent
swashbuckler about a look alike for a king.
This costume romance adventure is on the National
Film Registry. It stars Ronald Colman born February
9, 1891, and is based on a novel by Anthony Hope
born February 9, 1863. See also The Prisoner of
Zenda (1952).
The Prisoner of Zenda
Gypsy (1962) is based on the autobiography
of burlesque dancer Gypsy Rose Lee and
especially features her stage mother. It is based
on a Broadway musical as well. Gypsy Rose Lee
was born February 9, 1914.
Gypsy
Yellow Submarine (1968) is a prime
example of a Beatles movie and pop
art animation. An excellent movie.
The Beatles first appeared on the Ed Sullivan
Show February 9, 1964.
