Today's movies mark the birthdays of Charles Dickens, Sinclair Lewis, and Pu Yi.

Which of today's movies would you watch?







David Copperfield (1935) is based on the
classic Charles Dickens story of an orphan.
Dickens was born February 7, 1812.  An excellent

Elmer Gantry (1960) is about a salesman
who joins an evangelist troupe.  It is based on the
classic novel by Sinclair Lewis, born February
7, 1885.  This movie won Oscars for Best Actor,
to Burt Lancaster, born November 2, 1913,  Supporting
Actress, to Shirley Jones, born March 31, 1934,
and Writing.

The Last Emperor (1987) is the story of Pu Yi,
born February 7, 1906, the last emperor of China.
This very good movie won Oscars for Best Picture,
Director, Writing, Cinematography, Art Direction/Set
Decoration, Costume Design, Sound, Original
Score, and Film Editing.  Pu Yi was deposed in
the Chinese Revolution.
