Science fiction, bugs, and Judy Garland- try out these movies.



When Worlds Collide (1951) is a science fiction
disaster movie about a previously unknown
planet colliding with Earth.  It won an Oscar for
Visual Effects.  The year before, in 1950, Immanuel
Velikovsky's controversial book, Worlds in Collison,
was published.  It attempted to tie Biblical events
with a past collision of Venus and Earth.  Velikovsky
was born June 10, 1895.

animation tale of an ant and other
bugs.  E.O. Wilson, the world's
leading authority on ants, was born
June 10, 1929.

Life With Judy Garland:  Me and My Shadows
(2001) is a television miniseries (two parts, four
hours) about the glamorous and troubled life
of the famous actress and singer and a golden
age in Hollywood.  Garland was born June 10,
1922.  The movie won Emmys for Lead Actress
Judy Davis, for Supporting Actress Tammy Blanchard,
for Costumes, for Makeup, and for Hairstyling.
