The ocean, dinosaurs, and Broadway- themes for today's movies.

The Silent World (1956) is a documentary about
an ocean expedition by famous explorer
Jacques Cousteau.  Cousteau was born this date,
June 11, in 1910.  The film won an Oscar for Feature
Documentary.  It is also known as Le Monde du
Silence and pioneers underwater exploration.

Jurassic Park (1993) is about dinosaurs
brought to life in a remote theme park with
untoward consequences.  This summer
blockbuster from Steven Spielberg was released
this date, June 11.  The thrilling movie
won Oscars for Sound, Sound Effects Editing,
and Visual Effects.  There are several sequels
to this science fiction classic.

is a television series about a fictional
New York City theater community and the
creation of a new Broadway musical based
on the life of Marilyn Monroe.  The series
(two seasons, 32 episodes) garnered an Emmy
for Outstanding Choreography, especially
for routines National Pastime, Let's Be Bad, and
Never Met a Wolf.  The Tony awards are being
presented today, June 11, 2017.
