La Marseillaise (1938) is a historical
view of the French Revolution in 1789,
celebrated in France on Bastille Day,
July 14.

Bound for Glory (1976) is the
story of iconic folk singer Woody
Guthrie, especially the years 1936
to 1940.  His songs are part of
America.  The movie won Oscars
for Cinematography and Adaptation
of Original Song Score.  Guthrie was
born July 14, 1912.

Fanny and Alexander (1983) is a family
saga set in Sweden at the turn of the
century (1900).  It has autobiographical
overtones from famed Swedish director
Ingmar Bergman, born this date, July 14,
in 1918.  The movie won Oscars for
Best Foreign Film, Cinematography, Art/Set
Decoration, and Costume Design.
