Stagecoach (1939) is a landmark western starring
John Wayne.  It is listed on the National Film
Registry.  Thomas Mitchell won an Oscar as Best
Supporting Actor.  Mitchell was born this date,
July 11, in 1892.  The movie also won an Oscar
for Score.  The director was John Ford.

The King and I (1956) is about a widowed
English governess of the children of the
King of Siam, King Mongkut, who reigned from
1851 to 1868.  The musical is based on a book
and a Broadway musical.  This passionate movie
won Oscars for Best Actor- Yul Brynner, Set
Decoration, Costume Design, Sound, and Score.
It is Brynner's signature role.  He was born July 11,
1920.  The movie features an American Film Institute
Song, Shall We Dance.  Deborah Kerr won a Golden
Globe as Best Actress.

of E.B. White's classic story of a spider
who saves a pig.  White was born this
date, July 11, in 1899.
