Today's movies mark a World War I aviation anniversary, the birthday of Frank Serpico, and the birthday of Sarah Michele Gellar.







Wings (1927) is a silent movie about
World War I fighter pilots and a love
triangle.  Today, April 14, in 1918, Lt.
Douglas Campbell became the first American
air ace.  This movie won an Oscar as Best
Picture and is on the National Film Registry.

Serpico (1973) is the story of
an undercover cop who blows
the whistle on police corruption in
New York City and faces the
repercussions.  This inspiring movie
features an American Film Institute
hero, Frank Serpico, born April 14,
1936.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (March 10, 1997
to May 20, 2003) is a television series about
vampires and teenagers; Buffy is played by
Sarah Michele Gellar, born April 14, 1977.
The series won Emmys in 1998 for Makeup and
Music Underscore.  It was on for seven seasons,
144 episodes.
