Movies for the Day, Friday, April 14, 2017

Today's movies acknowledge Good Friday, a country singer's birthday, and Dolphin Day.



The Robe (1953) is a story based on the
crucifixion of Jesus Christ on Good Friday,
this year on April 14.  This movie won Oscars
for Costume Design and Art/Set Decoration and
a Golden Globe for Best Picture.

Coal Miner's Daughter (1980) is
the musical biography of country
singer Loretta Lynn, born April 14,
1935.  Sissy Spacek won an Oscar
as Best Actress for her role as Lynn
in this inspiring movie.

The Cove (2009) is a critical documentary about
dolphin fishing in Japan.  Today is
Dolphin Day.  The Cove won an Academy
Award for Feature Documentary.
