Movies for the Day, Monday, April 10, 2017

Today's movies celebrate Passover, National Siblings Day, and the Good Friday Agreement in Northern Ireland.



Passover, the Jewish celebration of the Exodus
from Egypt, begins today, April 10, 2017 and ends
tomorrow.  The Ten Commandments (1956) is an
epic movie version of the Exodus starring Charlton
Heston as Moses.  The movie won an Oscar for
Special Effects and was nominated for Best
Picture.

In Anna & Bella (1984) two sisters
look back on their lives.  Today is
National Siblings Day.  The film won
an Academy Award as Best Short
Animated film.

The Shore (2011) is the story of two boyhood
best friends reunited after 25 years.  They were
divided after a misunderstanding during the
Northern Ireland Troubles.  The Shore won an
Academy Award for Short Film, Live Action.
Today is the anniversary of the Irish Good
Friday Agreement, April 10, 1998.
