Giant (1956) is a sprawling story of a Texas cattle
rancher and his family. It is based on an Edna
Ferber novel. It is James Dean's last film. This film
won an Oscar for Directing and is on the National
Film Registry. Texas was admitted to the Union
on December 29, 1845.

It won many Emmys including to Moore for
Acting in 1973, 1974, and 1976, and to her

1972 and 1975, Valerie Harper in 1971, 1972, and 1973,
Ted Knight in 1973 and 1976, Cloris Leachman
in 1974 and 1975, and Betty White in 1975 and
1976. The show also won Emmys for
Outstanding Comedy Series.
