Today's movies mark the founding of Dartmouth University, the birthday of actress Lillian Roth, and the birthday of Mary Lincoln.

Dartmouth was founded December 13,
1769.

biopic of star of stage and screen
Lillian Roth, born December 13,
1910.  Susan Hayward was nominated
for an Oscar as Best Actress for her
portrayal of Roth.  The movie won an
Oscar for Costume Design.

The Trial of Mary Lincoln (1972) is a
one act opera of historical fiction based
on the 1875 trial where the First Lady's
sanity was evaluated.  Mary Lincoln
was born December 13, 1818.  The television
production won an Emmy for Writing.
