On July 16 (1790), George Washington
signed legislation selecting Washington,
D.C., as the nation's capital.

Desert Bloom (1986) is about a family
in Nevada in the early 1950s at the dawn of
the atomic age.  The atom bomb was first
exploded July 16, 1945.   A very good movie.
