of the life of World War I hero Alvin C. York.
This inspiring and very good movie features American
Film Institute Hero Alvin C. York.  Alvin C. York
Day is October 8, 1918, the date of the battle for
which he was awarded the Medal of Honor. Also
known as Day of Heroism.  This movie won Oscars
for Best Actor, to Gary Cooper, and Film Editing.

Alien (1979) is a classic science
fiction horror movie.  This thrilling movie
is on the National Film Registry and features
an American Film Institute Villain- The Alien.
It stars Sigourney Weaver, born October 8, 1949.
