Today's movies mark the birthday of Ruth Gordon, Devil's Night, and the birthday of John Adams.

Harold and Maude (1971) is about romantic
comedy about a May/December relationship.
This passionate and inspiring movie is on the
National Film Registry.  This very good black
comedy stars Ruth Gordon, born October 30,
1896.

The Pyx (1973) is about a police
sergeant investigating a prostitute's
death and a devil's cult.  This very good
movie combines horror, science fiction,
and a detective thriller.  Devil's Night
is October 30.

John Adams (2008) is a TV miniseries about
our second President, born October 30, 1735.
It won many Emmys, including for Lead Actor, to
Paul Giamatti, Lead Actress, to Laura Linney,
Supporting Actor, to Tom Wilkinson, Writing,
Cinematography, Costumes, Sound Mixing, Sound
Editing, Special Visual Effects, Makeup, Casting,
and Outstanding Miniseries.  There were seven episodes.
