Movies for the Day, Friday, January 12, 2018

Today's movies mark the birthdays of authors Jack London, Isaac Asimov, and Charles Perrault.





The Call of the Wild (1935) is about
adventure and romance during the
Klondike Gold Rush in Alaska and the
Yukon.  It is based on the classic novel
by Jack London, born January 12, 1876.
Another version was released in 1972.

Colossus:  The Forbin Project
(1970) is about a supercomputer run amok.
This artificial intelligence science fiction
thriller is presented in honor of Isaac Asimov,
born January 2, 1920, who was a science
fiction author especially known for robotics

Cinderella (1997) is an updated African
American version of Rodgers & Hammerstein's
musical version of Cinderella.  The most popular
version of Cinderella dates to Charles Perrault,
born January 12, 1628.  It received an Emmy
for Art Direction.
