Today's movies mark the premiere of Madame Butterfly, the death of Geronimo, and the birthday of Michael Jordan.






Madame Butterfly (1932) is based on the
Giacomo Puccini opera, without the music.  It is
a tragic romance of an Oriental woman and
and an American.  The opera premiered February
17, 1904.  Puccini was born December 22, 1858.

Geronimo (1939) is the story of
the famous Native American warrior. The
Apache died February 17, 1909.  His
life was also the focus of Geronimo (1962)
and Geronimo:  An American Legend
(1993).
