Movies for the Day, Tuesday, February 6, 2018

Today's movies mark Black History Month, Waitangi Day in New Zealand, and Babe Ruth's birthday.

Souls at Sea (1937) is about the
slave trade, a ship tragedy, and an
attempt to save lives.  February is
Black History Month and I am featuring
African American themed movies during
the first week of February.

Green Dolphin Street (1947) is about
two sisters after the same man in 19th
century New Zealand.  The movie won
an Oscar for Special Effects- earthquake and

holiday in New Zealand, dating to
February 6, 1840.
