South Pacific (1958) is a story about
life and love on a South Pacific island
during World War II. It is a film
version of the great Rodgers & Hammerstein
musical, which in turn was based on the
novel by James Michener, who was born
February 3, 1907. The movie won an Oscar for
Sound and features an American Film Institute
song, Some Enchanted Evening.

February 3, 1950. This movie won Oscars
for Best Actor, to Matthew McConaughey, born
November 4, 1969, Supporting Actor, to
Jared Leto, and Makeup and Hairstyling.
