Movies for the Day, Saturday, September 8, 2018

Today's movies mark the birthday of Peter Sellers, the first Miss America Beauty Pageant, and the premiere of Star Trek.  Which movie would you watch?

Dr. Strangelove or:  How I Learned to
Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964)
is a great satire starring Peter Sellers about the
Cold War and nuclear war.  Sellers was born
September 8, 1925.  This movie is on the National
Film Registry and features an American Film
Institute Quote, "Gentlemen, you can't fight in here!  This is the
War Room!"

Enemy Mine (1985) is about space
enemies stranded together.  It echoes
in some respects many science fiction
themes and a Star Trek episode where
Captain Kirk battles a Gorn.  Star Trek
premiered on TV September 8, 1966.
