flight from the age of balloons to the space age.
It is on the National Film Registry.  Today is
National Aviation Day.

Star Trek (September 8, 1966 to
June 3, 1969), The Original Series,
launched perhaps the most successful
science fiction franchise ever.  It was
created by Gene Roddenberry, born
August 19, 1921, and followed the crew
of the Starship Enterprise as it explored
the galaxy.  Seventy-nine episodes aired.

Airplane! (1980) is a hilarious satirical
parody of disaster movies, among other
things.  Today is National Aviation Day.
