Movies for the Day, Thursday, August 10, 2017

Missouri, bullfighting, and lions are all featured in the movies selected for today.





Bad Men of Missouri (1941) is a solid western
set in post-Civil War Missouri, which entered
the Union on August 10, 1821.

Matador (1986) is about an ex-
bullfighter and his female protege
who enjoy killing.  This black
comedy stars, among others,
Antonio Banderas, born August
10, 1960.

The Lion King (1994) is a great Disney
animation movie about lions and other
animals of Africa.  Today is World Lion
Day.  The movie won Oscars for Original
Song, Can You Feel the Love Tonight?, and
Original Score.  It featured a song on the
American Film Institute Songs list, Hakuna
Matata.  It later was a long-running
Broadway musical.
