Today's movies mark the birthdays of Peter O'Toole and Helen Morgan and a Persian Gulf War anniversary.








Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1939) is about the life
of a boarding school teacher.  Based on a James
Hilton novel, this movie features an American Film
Institute Hero, Arthur Chipping.  It won an Oscar for
Best Actor, to Robert Donat.  The movie was
remade in 1969 as a musical starring Peter O'Toole,
born August 2, 1932.  Donat was born March 18, 1905.

The Helen Morgan Story (1957) is the
story of a 1920s and 1930s torch singer,
born August 2, 1900.  It was aired on
TV's Playhouse 90 and stars Polly Bergen,
who won an Emmy as Best Actress.
Bergen was born July 14, 1930.

Live From Baghdad (2002) is an
HBO movie about journalists covering
the Persian Gulf War which lasted from
August 2, 1990 to February 28, 1991.  This
move won Emmys for Sound Mixing, Picture
Editing, and Casting.
