Movies for the Day, Tuesday, August 14, 2018

Today's movies mark the birthday of Alfred Hitchcock, Navajo Code Talkers Day, and the birthday of Halle Berry.

The 39 Steps (1935) is about an espionage
ring in London.  This thrilling movie combines
mystery, light comedy and romance.  This movie
continues our Alfred Hitchcock movie series; he
was born August 13, 1899.  The movie was remade under
the same name in 1959 and as The Thirty-Nine Steps
in 1978.

Navajo (1952) is about a Navajo
boy who runs away from the white
man's school.  The story is told in a
semi-documentary style.  It won a Golden
Globe Special Achievement Award to
Francis Kee Teller for immortalizing his
people.  August 14 is Navajo Code Talkers
Day (who were so important in cryptology in
WW II), so established by the Navajo Nation
Council.
