Today's movies mark the birthday of William Penn, the birthday of President Eisenhower, and  Universal Music Day.





Courageous Mr. Penn (1941) is a dramatic
portrayal of the life of William Penn, both
in England and Pennsylvania.  Penn, the
founder of Quaker Pennsylvania, was born
October 14, 1644.

Ike:  The War Years (1979) is a television
miniseries about President Dwight
Eisenhower, especially his war years
as a general in World War II (indeed Supreme
Allied Commander, Europe).  Eisenhower
was born October 14, 1890.  The miniseries
was nominated for several Emmys.

Basileus Quartet (1982) tells the story
of a quartet of musicians together for
a long time that loses one of its members.
Today is Universal Music Day.
