Today's movies mark the founding of East Germany, the anniversary of the hijacking of a ship, and Squirrel Awareness Month.







Kings of the Road (1976) is about a traveler
along the border of East and West Germany who
meets another, troubled, man, and they decide
to travel together.  It is a layered look at life
and a divided country.  East Germany was founded
October 7, 1949.  East and West Germany were
unified October 3, 1990.

The Hijacking of the Achilles Lauro (1989)
is a television movie of the hijacking of
an Italian cruise ship by members of he
Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO)
on this date, October 7, in 1985.  The movie
was nominated for several Emmys.

nature photography movie of
the life of a squirrel in the forest.
October is Squirrel Awareness Month.
