Movies for the Day, Sunday, October 8, 2017

Today's movies mark the anniversary of the great Chicago fire, International Octopus Day, and the birthday of comedian Chevy Chase.

In Old Chicago (1938) is the story
of two brothers who become powerful
figures in different aspects of Chicago.  The
movie culminates with the Great Chicago
Fire, October 8 through October 10, 1871.
Alice Brady, of later Brady Bunch fame on
television, won an Oscar as Supporting Actress.
Brady played the mother of the two brothers
and was also the Mrs. O'Leary whose cow
supposedly started the fire.  Brady was born
November 2, 1892.

It Came From Beneath the Sea (1955)

Francisco.  Today is International

Cephalopod Awareness Days.

National Lampoon's Vacation (1983) is a great

trip on vacation.  Chevy Chase stars as Clark
