Movies for the Day, Thursday, October 5, 2017

Today's movies mark the anniversary of a sketch comedy's first show, the birthday of author Clive Barker, and World Teachers Day.



Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975) is a send-up
of knights, the Middle Ages, and the Crusades from
the famous British comedic group, Monty Python.
The sketch comedy group's first show aired on BBC
on October 5, 1969.

Candyman (1992) is a serial killer and an
urban myth being researched by a graduate
student.  The movie takes place in Chicago.
The movie is based on the thriller by Clive Barker,
The Forbidden.  Barker was born October 5, 1952.
There is a sequel, Candyman: Farewell to the
Flesh (1990).  October is Halloween month.

Wonder Boys (2000) features an English
professor dealing with writer's block,
life issues, and students.  The movie won an
Oscar for Original Song, Things Have Changed.
Today is World Teachers Day.
